Sheila is a light.
She doesn’t know how much of a light she is to others, and so many of her friends and loved ones wish she did. Perhaps that humbleness is part of her beauty.
Today I share Sheila’s response to How do you quiet your mind, find contentment, your happy?
At the end of the day, when you thank God your loved ones are in bed and you’ve survived another day. Also, reaching out, either to someone you have thought about and haven’t seen in a while, or a new acquaintance who has touched or empowered you (maybe in the grocery store)…just to let them know how much they mean to you. They don’t always respond immediately, but you will have a signal along the way.
Thankfulness, gratitude.
Reaching out and letting someone know you’re thinking of them.
Sometimes, just listening to a friend.
When we connect to our true nature by sharing our gratitude and compassion, we feel a lift ourselves, and bring that light out into the world.
And it spreads, a la pay-it-forward. So good.
Namaste, Sheila. This one is for you.

Wow, how beautiful! The song, Sheila’s response, everything!!!
PS: You have no idea how much I’m enjoying reading Meditations from the mat. You need to recommend me more books Lisa!!!! You have exquisite taste. I love every post of yours!!
Sweetest Erika!
You’d connect so well with Sheila if you met her, I am sure of that. You are a perfect example of what Sheila is talking about. You take so much time to let people know that you appreciate them — even if you don’t know them, i.e. some person writing a blog (on a haphazard schedule at best) in upstate New York. When I’m feeling unoriginal or otherwise low, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come to this place to read an uplifting note from you. To know that Rolf Gates’ book has brought you some peace, especially with all that you’ve gone through, that makes me feel very good, indeed. You shine all the time. I’d love to put a little list together of more favorites. How about after I get my long-overdue music (playlist) and blog award posts finished? 🙂
Thank you, thank you, Erika!
Oh how I love that song and haven’t heard it in so long. Thank you Lis.
We aren’t just sisters of biology…soul sisters, Corinne
Lisa, you described Sheila’s way of being perfectly. She IS a light and is so great to everyone that often she forgets about herself! She is such a great friend and I am elated that she has found new happiness. She deserves it!
So nice of you to take the time to leave such kind words, Missy, and I couldn’t agree more about sweet Sheila.
Love, Lisa
